What I’m Reading This Week…
Meet Tannie Maria – recipe writer turned crime fighter – and before she has time to take her Venus Chocolate Cake out of the oven, our glorious heroine finds herself embroiled in another mystery.
In this wonderful sequel to Recipes for Love and Murder, Slimkat the bushman finds his life under threat and Tannie Maria is determined to find out who wants to kill him.
But her boyfriend is keen to keep Tannie out of danger, and she’s pretty sure he’s hiding something so Tannie has mysteries of her own solve . . .
Blending a perfect whodunnit with lovable characters, Sally Andrew really does have the perfect recipe for a crime series.

Set against a high-society Shanghai wedding, a heartfelt, funny, dazzling novel about a reluctant bride and her two best friends, each with their own motives and fed up with the way society treats women, who forge a plan to steal all the gift money on the big day
Lulu has always been taught that money is the ticket to a good life. So, when Shanghai’s most eligible bachelor surprises her with a proposal, the only acceptable answer is yes, even if the voice inside her head is saying no. His family’s fortune would solve all her parents’ financial woes, but Lulu isn’t in love or ready for marriage.
The only people she can confide in are her two best friends: career-minded Rina, who is tired of being passed over for promotion as her biological clock ticks away; and Jane, a sharp-tongued, luxury-chasing housewife desperate to divorce her husband and trade up. Each of them desires something different: freedom, time, beauty. None of them can get it without money.
Lulu’s wedding is their golden opportunity. The social event of the season, it means more than enough cash gifts to transform the women’s lives. To steal the money on the big day, all they’ll need is a trustworthy crew and a brilliant plan. But as the plot grows increasingly complicated and relationships are caught in the cross fire, the women are forced to face that having it all might come at a steep price…

In a kingdom where magic has been lost, Fia is a rare changeling, left behind by the wicked Fair Folk when they stole the High Queen’s daughter and retreated behind the locked gates of Tír na nÓg.
Most despise Fia’s fae blood. But the queen raises her as a daughter and trains her to be a spy. Meanwhile, the real princess Eala is bound to Tír na nÓg, cursed to become a swan by day and only returning to her true form at night.
When a hidden gate to the realm is discovered, Fia is tasked by the queen to retrieve the princess and break her curse. But she doesn’t go alone: with her is prince Rogan, Fia’s dearest childhood friend—and Eala’s betrothed.
As they journey through the forests of the Folk, where magic winds through the roots of the trees and beauty can be a deadly illusion, Fia’s mission is complicated by her feelings for the prince…and her unexpected attraction to the dark-hearted fae lord holding Eala captive. Irian might be more monster than man, but he seems to understand Fia in a way no one ever has.
Soon, Fia begins to question the truth of her mission. But time is running out to break her sister’s curse. And unraveling the secrets of the past might destroy everything she has come to love.

Am I a murderer? You tell me . . .
You probably already know about me. Lucy Chase, the woman who doesn’t remember murdering her best friend.
You all think I did it. That’s OK, I get it. Being found wandering the streets covered in her blood wasn’t a great look.
Believe me, I’m as frustrated as you are. I’d love to know if I’m a murderer – it’s the sort of thing you really should know about yourself, isn’t it?
And now, thanks to true-crime podcast Listen for the Lie, I finally have the chance to find out. But will I be able to live with myself if it turns out it was me?
And if it wasn’t, will digging into the secrets of the night I forgot make me the next target of whoever did?

I tried to clean my oven after your last comment. I got some of it but it’s old and has a lot of buildup. What Happened to Nina? was wild.

Hm. I’m working up to cleaning my oven. Maybe in the autumn. Or next winter. Meanwhile I love the premise for Listen For the Lie. Have a great week, Shelleyrae:)).

I say let the oven be. You don’t want to clean it. It’s happy with a soft layer of stuff on it. As long as it still cooks your food, it’s all good.
I hope you have a great week!

Your challenges are going beautifully. You have reminded me that I need to update mine soon.
I’ve never cleaned my oven. Yet another thing I failed to learn before I set out on my own!

Well done with your reading challenge. Poor oven, but one day! Looking forward to hearing what you think of a couple of those books read last week as I will certainly read one and leaning towards the other.

I didn’t realize What Happened to Nina? isn’t officially released until March 5, I’m waiting to get my hands on it! Enjoy your week ahead!

No worries – our oven hasn’t been cleaned in ages, either! We can no longer use the self-cleaning feature because it doesn’t seal well enough (it came with the house so 30+ years old). We need to replace it, but it’s built into the wall, and we can’t find one that will fit. So that’s my excuse! I did ask my husband to clean it manually (that task is beyond my limits), but so far, no luck!
Your books all sound intriguing – hope you’re enjoying them!
