Life…
*
It was Father’s Day here yesterday so my husband and I went out to dinner with my parents, and our eldest, plus her partner, and our youngest (the middle two are at uni). We celebrated that my dad finished radiotherapy this week, now there is a six week wait until his MRI to see how effective the treatment has been. Obviously we are hoping for excellent news.
I finished binging NCIS this week, all twenty seasons. Right now I’m binging Haven again. While I’m not a mood reader, I am a mood watcher, so I’m not sure what I’ll watch next though I have a long list of options to choose from. What are you watching right now?

What I’m Reading This Week…
Dr Hannah Rogan, a GP from outback Queensland, is in hiding from an emotionally abusive ex-boyfriend. When a visit to her friend Gracie in Featherwood sparks the idea to move there and open a medical practice for the town, Hannah finds the fresh start she needs. The town has rebuilt after devastating fires and its growing population is desperate for her calm presence and expertise.
Her first patient is the son of the tight-lipped, attractive Jude, from the mysterious closed community upriver. Jude has a troubled past he doesn’t talk about, but now he’s helping others to turn their lives around. The last thing Jude needs is to fall for the new doctor in town but his son’s illness means they’ll be spending a lot of time together.
The rain starts, and doesn’t stop. The creeks fill, the river bursts and soon the residents of Featherwood are at risk of losing everything they’ve rebuilt. As the floodwaters rise, so do emotions and everyone must pull together to save lives and salvage whatever they can.
From the bestselling author of The Opal Miner’s Daughter comes this suspenseful tale of love, redemption and finding your path when you feel surrounded.

Based on the hugely successful Channel 9 drama series starring Rebecca Gibney as forensic psychiatrist Dr Jane Halifax, whose criminal profiling, twenty years later, might be the only way to track down Australia’s most dangerous serial killer yet.
The first murder is brazen, violent and ritualistic. Committed in the victim’s home, the killer leaves few clues as to their motive or their identity. All the police know is that the perpetrator entered the house, impaled the art collector on one of his own priceless sculptures, before melting away into the night.
Inspector Eric Ringer is desperate for Dr Jane Halifax to profile the killer, but Jane is cautious. She and Eric have a past … plus, she hates these kinds of cases; a psychopath is a psychopath, any way you slice it.
But there’s something about this killer that intrigues Jane. And as the bodies pile up, Jane must use all her knowledge and intuition to enter the mind of the murderer before they strike again.
Join Jane Halifax as she embarks on the most challenging – and chilling – case of her career.

A near-fatal car accident has left Jane in a coma. When she wakes, she has no idea who she is.
Initially comforted by unlikely spectres from past cases, Jane is unaware of everyone else’s the police who believe she was deliberately run off the road; a lawyer whose files were in her car at the time of the accident – files he should never have lent her; her neurosurgeon who fears a relapse; and her partner, Tim, who has to cope with the fact Jane remembers almost nothing of the last two years – including their relationship.
A young woman called Luna keeps luring Jane back to the present. Linked to a thirty-year cold case from Jane’s past, Luna has a quest of her own she can only solve with Jane’s help.
But if Jane wants to help Luna, she first needs to heal herself, and there just might be reasons beyond the accident that are hampering Jane’s recovery…

Nineteen-year-old Phoebe and her widower father Al have recently moved to Devon, to a small cottage with a river at the end of the garden.
Struggling with her own closely guarded issues, Phoebe doesn’t go out much. Instead, she spends her time at home, watching detective dramas and playing detective herself – trying to deduce from Al’s deliveries as a courier what kind of lives her neighbours lead.
But when they find an abandoned baby otter on the riverbank, it’s just the push Phoebe needs to finally step into her new community. Taking the little one to the local otter sanctuary and witnessing the uncomplicated joy of its fellow creatures, she feels a burgeoning sense of happiness that she has not experienced in a very long time.
However, Phoebe soon starts to suspect that something is amiss at the sanctuary – and she will need to put all her sleuthing skills to good use if she wants to save the otters . . .

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? #IMWAYR @thebookdate #SundayPost @Kimbacaffeinate #SundaySalon @debnance I’ll be reading #AsTheRiverRises #Transgression #Resurrection #LifeandOtterMiracles what about you?
We’ve been making our way through Stanley Tucci’s Searching for Italy in preparation for our food tour of Italy. I think I will need to look for recommendations for what to watch when we return.
Life and Otter Miracles sounds very promising. I love to read books where people find their life purpose.

I have been eager to watch NCIS! I am also a mood watcher.
Enjoy your week, and good luck on your dad’s radiotherapy.

My daughter is watching NCIS slowly. The only thing I seem to find time to watch is Chopped while fixing dinner. There’s something like 50 seasons or more so I could watch for years since I don’t usually get in a full episode each day. I mostly read.

I write my reviews etc while I watch, I should probably watch less though

I love the feeling of binge watching a long series and always feel a bit at loose ends when it’s over.
I hope your father gets good news at his MRI in 6 weeks!

I don´t binge watch TV at the moment. Netflix, Hulu etc. are too expensive here in Germany at the moment. So free TV it is. Wishing your dad a fantastic MRI result in a few weeks. Hope he feels good…

Another Hazel Prior book! I’ll have to keep an eye out for that one. Hope your Dad will have good results after the wait. Kind of an anxious lull.

I haven’t watched NCIS in awhile. I think I stopped around the time Tony left. Hope your father gets good news!

Best wishes for successful treatment for your Dad. My Dad is currently fighting his third type of cancer so I know the stress of watching a loved one fight this battle. Have a great week ahead.

Good luck to your family and your dad!
I’ve been slowly watching all episodes of Hometown Cba Cha Cha, a Korean romance, slow burning. On Netflix. Enjoyable to see the relationships between people and between lovers.

I watched the first season of Russian Doll last month when I was home sick with Covid, on the recommendation of one of my adult daughters. I almost never watch shows or movies by myself, but I do hope to get to Season 2 before I completely forget Season 1.

I didn’t know there were 20 seasons of NCIS! Is Mark Harmen in all of them. Love him.
Sending good thoughts and hopes for your father’s health and I hope he gets very good news.

Mark Harmon bowed out in season 19 so there is a new ‘Gibbs’. McGee is the only remaining original cast member, though Jimmy is still there and Ducky guest stars occasionally, It’s still good though.

I hope the treatments helped your father and the MRI results come back in his favor. My father-in-law recently finished the radiation treatment for his brain cancer and now he is undergoing immunotherapy (I think that’s what it is) for the metastatic lung cancer. At this point, I think the goal for him is to prolong his quality of life as long as possible. I haven’t seen NCIS, but I remember liking Haven when I watched it. I’ll have to add NCIS to my list to try. I hope you enjoy your reading and have a great week!
