Title: Alpha {Shifters #6}
Author: Rachel Vincent
Published: Mira Oct 2010
Sypnosis: The unscrupulous new Council chair has charged Jace, Marc and me with trespassing, kidnapping, murder and treason. Yeah, we’ve been busy. But now it’s time to take justice into our own hands. We must avenge my brother’s death and carve out the rot at the heart of the Council. It’s not going to be easy, and loss seems unavoidable, but I have promised to protect my Pride, no matter what. With a target on my back and Marc at my side, I’m heading for a final showdown that can—that will—change everything forever. A showdown I’m not sure I’m ready for. But life never waits until you’re ready.

My Thoughts:
It’s always sad to have a series end because as I reader I feel like I build a relationship of sorts with the characters and a level of comfort in knowing what to expect from the author. I had a shaky start with the Shifters series, I bought books 1-3 all at once on the strength of recommendations (and impulse) only to find Faythe incredibly annoying in Stray. I was dissapointed and put of continuing the series until almost a year later when I decided it was time to just finish the series. I was suprised to find I enjoyed Rogue much more and then became a confirmed fan with Pride. So when Alpha came out, I bought the last three in the series and even though it took me a few more months I read the final three within a week or two.
Alpha was a strong finale to the series. The action is non stop with hard won battles and heartbreaking losses. Emotionally the journey is just as brutal. Vincent pulls at the threads of the series to make sure there is nothing left unravelled. For me the conclusion was satisying and complete.
I don’t want risk inadvertedly spoil anyone’s reading of the series so I am avoiding any details. If you have made to the end of the series you deserve to finish the journey yourself. It’s worth it.
I will get to this series this year. And from all the positive things I’ve heard and read about it, it’s going to be awesome!

I have the whole series sitting on my shelf but I keep hearing Faythe is annoying so I put off starting it all the time. LOL
