I encourage participants who aren’t sure what to select for each category to look for recommendations from other book bloggers who they read and follow, or browse lists such as Goodreads Listopia, Library Booklists, or whatever source is favoured, however I thought I might offer a few gleaned from my own browsing.

Make sure you click here and check out participants links too

For the next three weeks I will post some examples that might inspire your own selections

  1. Currently I’m reading Last Plane in the Sky: An Oral History of 9/11 (disaster event)……slow going because more than one chapter a day is overwhelmingly sad. I appreciate the unique structure of using survivors’ oral accounts to tell the story.

  2. What a great challenge and to encourage more readers to pick up non fiction books! I don’t read non fiction often but really enjoy women’s studies and feminist manifestos. Looking forward to following along to pick up some recommendations!

  3. You’ve got some really good recommendations in this post. When They Call You a Terrorist is on my TBR list and I hope to get to it this year.

  4. Thanks for helping us out with these great suggestions. I’m starting to compile my list. You have some of my favorites listed here of books I’ve already read! Born a Crime; Everybody Lies; 21 Lessons for the 21st Century; Freakonomics; Maid. Loved all those so much.
