2020 Reading Challenges

I’m challenging myself in 2020 with the following reading goals:

2020 Goodreads Challenge

My Goal: 220 books

xxx

2020 Nonfiction Reader Challenge hosted by Book’d Out

I wanted to be held accountable for reading more nonfiction this year and couldn’t find a suitable challenge, so I launched this one.

My Goal: Nonfiction Know-It-All – 12 books

xxx

2020 Australian Women Writers

I have participated in this challenge since it’s inception

My Goal: 50 books

xxx

2020 Aussie Author Challenge hosted by Book Lover Book Reviews

This is another challenge I regularly participate in every year.

My Goal: Emu – 24 books

xxx

2020 Historical Fiction Reading Challenge hosted by Passages to the Past

This challenge is new to me, I generally read some historical fiction, but never really by design, so this might be a stretch.

My Goal: Ancient History – 25 books

xxx

2020 Social Justice Nonfiction Challenge hosted by Hibernator’s Library

I thought this challenge seemed like a great way to expand my nonfiction reading further, but I’m keeping my expectations low. I have a list of five books I definitely want to read. Any more will be a bonus.

My Goal: 5 books

2020 Swords and Stars Reading Challenge hosted by Ms.Noseinabook

I want to read at least some fantasy and scifi this year, and if I don’t plan for it I probably won’t, this was the only challenge I could find that gave me that opportunity. The challenge offers 20 categories, I hope to do at least ten.

My Goal: 10 books

Nerd Daily 2020 Reading Challenge

I added this one last minute because it’s a good general challenge, sort of like the Eclectic Reader Challenge I used to host, and one I think I might be able to complete it mostly by coincidence.

Good luck with all of your challenges this year! So far I’m only doing the Goodreads and a backlist challenge, but that historical fiction one is very tempting.

I don’t usually sign up for challenges that last only a year, but I decided to go ahead and jump in for your nonfiction challenge, and now I’m tempted by the Nerd Challenge.

I am also doing the Social Justice Challenge so look forward to seeing what books you read. If you like YA historical fiction, I highly recommend any of Ruta Sepetys’ books, which are fantastic. I just read The Fountains of Silence, which is set in Spain during Franco’s reign (1940s to 1970s).

I’ve joined a few reading challenges so far, but you’re making me REALLY want to do one of the Australia ones and the NERD one (I love having categories to mark off). I’m trying to resist since I rarely actually complete the challenges I sign up for, but still …

Wow Shelleyrae, so many challenges – but excellent selections, a couple I’d not come across. I enjoyed reading a little more sci-fi last year also, and still need to incorporate a little fantasy into my reading…

And of course, fantastic to have you joining us again in the Aussie Author Challenge. Happy reading year!

You need to pick me up off the floor where I collapsed after reading your goal of 220 books. That’s about 4 times the number I can manage. And then all those goals! You must be a superwoman to be able to tackle all of those. This year I’m not taking on any that involve targets or reading lists….

Not superwoman, but I read fairly fast, around 100 pages an hour so theoretically finishing a book a day is fairly easy, and I’ve been known to do it .. the problem these days is it takes me the same amount of time to put together a review, as it does to read the book 🙂
