What will you be reading for an hour today?

Today is the day for Australian Reading Hour

On Thursday September 19 2019, Australians are encouraged to rediscover or introduce themselves to the benefits of reading, by picking up a book and reading for one hour.

Libraries, booksellers and schools all around Australia are holding events for people of all ages. You can join a reading flash mob, enjoy literary inspired mocktails, or take your children to special storytime session.

Of course, you can also simply spend an hour reading on your comfiest couch at home or on a towel at the beach guilt free..after all this is a government sponsored initiative..which is practically a law!

What will you be reading for an hour today?

I’m reading….Where The Light Enters by Sara Donati, which is 687 pages long, so I might need more than hour.

To the land of long lost friends. The latest offering in the ‘No 1 Ladies Detective Agency’ by Alexander McCall Smith. This series is set in Botswana with all the colour, culture and citizenry of that country forming the basis for these quirky human and detective stories. it is easy bedtime reading and doesn’t leave you having nightmares !! Always enjoyable. (Followed by a page or two of the latest Clive Cussler ‘The Titanic Secret’ book – my favourite author).

Great post! I worked my way through Where the Light Enters over the weekend and earlier this week. I hope you are enjoying it. Today I read for an hour after all my housework and before picking the kids up from school, Heart of the Cross by Emily Madden. Loving it!

I love this idea! I wish it were happening where I live — not that I can’t just read for an hour anyway, but I love the concept of everyone doing it. Enjoy!

This sounds like a novel way to get people picking up a book again! We don’t have anything like this in the UK (I don’t think!).

Today, I’m reading one of my Christmas ARCs (I know… It’s September) and I’m really enjoying it! It’s set in Finland and now I want to visit, lol.
