It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?

The Its Monday! What Are You Reading meme is hosted at Book Journey.

Chaos still reigns!

I’m pleased to say Jasiah’s birthday cake was a hit and my husbands bundt chocolate fudge birthday cake is currently cooling on the kitchen bench so I can decorate it.

Christmas shopping is finally done, though presents still aren’t wrapped. I didn’t get around to Christmas cards or a Santa photo and I feel a little guilty.

Anyway, from my family to yours….

What I Am Reading Today

Anna Moder has just witnessed a shooting, seen her car pulverized, and rescued a wounded stranger only to discover he’sreally a werewolf. And by her recent standards, things are actually looking up. Lycanthropes don’t faze Anna. Doctoring a wolf pack outside Grundy, Alaska, is the closest thing to home life she’s known in years. But hitching a ride to Anchorage with long-absent pack member Caleb Graham’s a risk. Part of her itches to whack his nose with a newspaper. The rest is trying unsuccessfully to keep her own paws off every delicious inch of him.The problem is Caleb employs his lupine tracking abilities as a notquite- legal bounty hunter, and Anna is suspicious of both him and his profession. On the run from her past, with old problems closing in, she’d like to stay far, far away from anybody with connections to the law. Caleb, however, seems determined to keep her close. Are his intentions noble, or is he working a more predatory angle? Anna’s been dreaming of returning to a semi-normal life, but now she’s experiencing a strange new urge . . . to join Caleb in running with the wolves.

What I Plan To Read This Week

(click the covers to view at Goodreads)

What could be worse than losing your child? Having to pretend he’s still alive… Bestselling author Will Shepard is caught in the twilight of grief, after his young son dies in a car accident. But when his father’s aging mind erases the memory, Will rewrites the truth. The story he spins brings unexpected relief…until he’s forced to return to rural North Carolina, trapping himself in a lie.  Holistic veterinarian Hannah Linden is a healer who opens her heart to strays but can only watch, powerless, as her grown son struggles with inner demons. When she rents her guest cottage to Will and his dad, she finds solace in trying to mend their broken world, even while her own shatters.  As their lives connect and collide, Will and Hannah become each other’s only hope—if they can find their way into a new story, one that begins with love

The people of Alban are afraid. The tyrannical king and his masked Enforcers are scouring the land, burning villages and enslaving the canny. Fifteen-year-old Neryn has fled her home in the wake of its destruction, and is alone and penniless, hiding her extraordinary magical power. She can rely on no one – not even the elusive Good Folk who challenge and bewilder her with their words. When an enigmatic stranger saves her life, Neryn and the young man called Flint begin an uneasy journey together. She wants to trust Flint but how can she tell who is true in this land of evil? For Neryn has heard whisper of a mysterious place far away: a place where rebels are amassing to free the land and end the King’s reign. A place called Shadowfell. A story of courage, hope, danger and love from one of the most compelling fantasy storytellers.

With her hotly anticipated third instalment, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, Fielding introduces us to a whole new enticing phase of Bridget’s life set in contemporary London, including the challenges of maintaining sex appeal as the years roll by and the nightmare of drunken texting, the skinny jean, the disastrous email cc, total lack of twitter followers, and TVs that need 90 buttons and three remotes to simply turn on.

She’s fought death and won. But how can she fight her fears? Avry knows hardship and trouble. She fought the plague and survived. She took on King Tohon and defeated him. But now her heart-mate, Kerrick, is missing, and Avry fears he’s gone forever. But there’s a more immediate threat. The Skeleton King plots to claim the Fifteen Realms for his own. With armies in disarray and the dead not staying down, Avry’s healing powers are needed now more than ever.Torn between love and loyalty, Avry must choose her path carefully. For the future of her world depends on her decision

I need to read more of Juliet Marillier’s books. I’ve only read Heart’s Blood so far. I have Daughter of the Forest and The Dark Mirror as well. Have lots of catching up to do!

Same for Snyder – have only read the first book in that trilogy so far, really liked it (her books are so easy and entertaining to read aren’t they? They just sweep you up and carry you along!), have the next 2 on Kindle (netgalley) but have the 2nd in print too, prefer reading that way so I’ll just wait.

Love how the cakes turned out! Have a great Christmas, Shelleyrae!

I haven’t read any of Marilliers though I’ve been meaning too. The third in the Shadowfell series is due out early next year and the publisher was nice enough to send me the first two books in the series so I can catch up 🙂
Snyders books are just pure escapism and I need that right now.

      Have a wonderful Christmas Shannon

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas holiday. Time to relax, read, enjoy your family and friends.

I can’t wait to read your thoughts on Mad about the Boy. I plan to read it but have only had one person I know read it so far, and she’s an author so picked it apart (bummer). 🙂 I hope you enjoy it so I can push my friends view out of the way. 🙂
