 What I Am Reading Today

A WOMAN OUT FOR BLOOD Nicole Martin was only eight years old when the vampire slaves rose up in rebellion and killed her family. Now she devotes her life to finding a vaccine against vampirism, hoping to wipe out her memories—along with every bloodsucker on the planet. But there’s one thing she cannot destroy: her searing, undeniable attraction for the one man she should hate and fear the most . . .A VAMPIRE OUT FOR REVENGE A member of the renegade vampire MoonBound Clan, Riker is haunted by demons of his own. When he recognizes Nicole and remembers how her family enslaved his loved ones, his heart burns for vengeance. But when he kidnaps Nicole and holds her in a secret lair, his mortal enemy becomes his soul obsession, his greatest temptation, and, perhaps, his only salvation—a hot-blooded lover who could heal him with her touch . . . or bury him forever.

What I Plan To Read This Week

(click the covers to view at Goodreads)

When Gabby first met Elliott she knew he was the man for her. In twenty years of marriage she has never doubted her love for him – even when he refused to give her the one thing she still wants most of all. But now their two daughters are growing up Gabby feels that time and her youth are slipping away. For the first time in her life she is restless. And then she meets Matt . . . Intoxicated by the way this young, handsome and successful man makes her feel, Gabby is momentarily blind to what she stands to lose on this dangerous path. And in one reckless moment she destroys all that she holds dear. Consumed by regret, Gabby does everything she can to repair the home she has broken. But are some betrayals too great to forgive?

Kitty Hamilton arrives in Tanganyika with high hopes for her new life. An exciting adventure halfway across the world could be just what she and Theo need to recover from the scandal that almost tore them apart.  She is determined to play the role of the perfect wife, but her dreams soon begin to unravel. Theo is distracted with his important British government post, and while Kitty had imagined doing valuable work of her own, she finds that choosing the right frock to wear to the club is the biggest challenge of her day. In this wild and foreign land, where very different powers prevail, the head can’t always rule the heart. As old wounds resurface and new passions ignite, Kitty and Theo confront emotions that push them beyond the boundaries of all that they know and believe in. The Perfect Wife is a breathtaking story about the struggle between duty and desire, jealousy and love, commitment and freedom. And the need to follow the call of your heart, wherever it may lead you…

Being a goddess is a lot less fun than you might think. Especially when you’re only a half-goddess, and when you only found out about it recently, and when you still don’t know what you’re doing half the time. And when you’ve just used your not-so-reliable powers to burglarise a particularly well-guarded section of hell. Yeah, that part sucks. But that is just the first of the hurdles Cassandra Palmer, the freshly minted chief seer of the supernatural world, will have to face as she struggles to make her way in her new office. And, oh yeah, to reclaim a friend from a fate worse than death, to deal with an increasingly possessive master vampire, and to stop a party of her own acolytes from unleashing a storm of fury onto the world. Just an average day at the office when you’re Pythia.

Two boys, brothers, wake tied and bound in a boathouse by the sea. Their kidnapper has gone, but soon he will return. Their bonds are inescapable. But there is a bottle and tar to seal it. Paper and a splinter for writing; blood for ink. A message begging for help. In Copenhagen’s cold cases division Carl Mørck has received a bottle. It holds an old and decayed message, written in blood. It is a cry for help from two boys. Is it real? Who are they and why weren’t they reported missing? Can they possibly still be alive?

  3. Gosh you read so much more than me! I’m just finishing J Lynn’s Frigid – which means I’m averaging 1 book a week at the moment, oops! Lol. Bound by Night sounds pretty awesome, but I couldn’t help noticing the spelling of ‘soul’ in the synopsis which I think should have been ‘sole’ (as in the only one…). Either I’m wrong or the publish should pay more attention, lol.

  4. The cover and title of Thornwood House are fantastically gothic! Love it! I read your review, it does sound like the heroine could get annoying, but the fact that you still enjoyed it makes me want to read it! 🙂 Tempt the Stars sounds good too. 🙂

  5. I read Just Like Fate by Cat Patrick & Suzanne Young. It was a pleasant book that makes you stop and think. I’m currently reading A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin and The Giver by Lois Lowry. The latter is for banned books week. I hope you enjoy your week of reading.

  6. I haven’t got to the end of The Turning yet, but I’m already wondering why they found one skull and 4 femurs in the swamp and not 1 skull and 2 femurs. I love Winton’s stuff. Apart from being great reads, his books always remind me of my own time in SW WA.
