The Its Monday! What Are You Reading meme is hosted at Book Journey.
Thank you for the birthday wishes I received over the weekend. I spent my birthday at the beach, Crowdy Bay to be specific, with my husband, children and friends. The weather, as you can see below, was glorious! I swam, read and relaxed.
While the tradition continues (I was not given a single book for my birthday) my parents have ordered me a Kindle Touch (actually this was my only present LOL) ! I can’t wait for it to arrive!

What I Am Reading Today
That was brilliant,’ Jake says. ‘That was without doubt the most satisfying moment of my entire life.’ When Johnny, Jake, Drac and Badger take the law into their own hands and give an irritating neighbour a drive-by soaking, life feels good. Then something terrible happens as a result and Johnny’s guilty conscience won’t leave him alone. But are the weird things that start happening really just a result of his overheated brain? Or is the old lady coming back to haunt him? Is it ever possible to get away with murder? It’s a good question. One that Johnny needs to think about. Hard.
What I Plan To Read This Week
Damien McAllister is a man on the brink. Spending long, hard days on a farm he has no affection for, and nights ignoring the criticisms of his mother, Damien can no longer remember what he’s living for. But in a small town like Wattle Creek, there are few people to turn to – and Damien learned long ago to keep his problems to himself. Until Jacqueline Havelock, a young psychologist escaping her own issues, arrives fresh from the city and makes Damien question everything he has known about himself…also igniting a spark in his lonely heart. Soon Damien is daring to ask for more than an ordinary life, and can glimpse the possibility of happiness. Will this accidental farmer dare to fulfil the long-forgotten legacy of his father and find peace in the arms of the doctor? Or will the ghosts of their pasts threaten the fragile new lives they’ve just begun to build?
It’s been ages since Jo, Helen, Ereka and CJ first became friends through their mothers’ group-back then, life revolved around their small children. Now their kids are pre-teens and teenagers with attitudes, iPods and raging hormones, and life is feeling emptier for some mothers, more liberating for others. While away together in an old country house with a couple of new friends and plenty of wine and food, it’s not long before the women are discussing men, marriage and parenting, sharing intimacies and confiding vulnerabilities. Friendships are put on the line as the bonds between them are tested and the weekend takes some unexpected turns. Picking up where the international bestseller Secret Mothers’ Business left off, The Reunion is an insightful, funny and often biting novel about the challenges women face as their bodies change, dreams fade and kids grow up. Ultimately it explores what it means to be a good friend, a good person and a good mother-and suggests that all love is about learning to let go
A beloved daughter. A devastating choice. And now there’s no going back.Four years ago, nineteen-year-old Travis Brown made a choice: to raise his newborn daughter on his own. While most of his friends were out partying and meeting girls, Travis was at home, changing diapers and worrying about keeping food on the table. But he’s never regretted his decision. Bella is the light of his life. The reason behind every move he makes. And so far, she is fed. Cared for. Safe. But when Travis loses his construction job and his home, the security he’s worked so hard to create for Bella begins to crumble . Then a miracle. A job in Raleigh has the power to turn their fortunes around. It has to. But when Travis arrives in Raleigh, there is no job, only an offer to participate in a onetime criminal act that promises quick money and no repercussions. With nowhere else to turn, Travis must make another choice for his daughter’s sake.Even if it means he might lose her.
Ava Fae saves the life and steals the affection of the beautiful new boy at her high school, knowing full well that saving his life may mean losing her own. Ava belongs to the ancient Order of Gaia—a secret group created by those with superhuman abilities to safeguard the vitality of the natural world. Now, another secret group, the Order of Ares, is methodically hunting down and killing the Gaia. Isolated from the conflict and lulled by the halcyon setting of her rural Massachusetts town, Ava is content to use her powers to frolic with the local fauna and compel her teachers to recycle, until a new boy wearing the tattoo of the Ares arrives at her high school.
Fertility counselor Zondra Vesey is not a serial killer – she’s on a mission, a noble mission. For ten long years she has slaved to help make one man a star specialist in the highly competitive field of infertility treatment, Her thanks? Woman after woman sleeps in his bed, fills his life – as she once did. Instead of loving her, his surgeon’s hands sliced her open, mutilated her insides, and left her sterile, as barren as the women who flock to him for the miracle of motherhood. Now, Zondra is angry, grief stricken, and filled with sorrow – a deadly mission burns deep within her. She will, she must save her sisters from their suffering.

Happy Birthday! I want to be on that beach. Seriously. One of my friends used to give me a Barnes and Noble giftcard for every occasion. Then he helped us move. After hauling all my books around, he decreed no more giftcards for me and he has stuck to it! I hope you enjoy your new Kindle!
