Review & Giveaway : The Haunted E-Book by JL Bryan {Blog Tour}

Title: The Haunted E-Book

Author: J L Bryan

Published: Createspace Jan 10th 2011

Sypnosis: Dee escapes her dreary librarian job and unfaithful boyfriend by reading romance and fantasy on her Kindle. She tries The Haunted E-book, the story of a 19th century tramp printer whose ghost awakens whenever someone reads a book he created. The ghost stalks his readers and threatens them with death if they stop reading the book. Though she doesn’t usually like ghost stories, Dee can’t stop herself from reading it.
Then Dee learns the stories in the books are true, the malevolent ghost is real, and Dee might be the next character to die

My Thoughts:

I am happy to support J L Bryan with the release of his newest publication, The Haunted E-book. Jeff is currently promoting his new novel with a book blog tour,  offering fabulous prizes including print and eformat copies of The Haunted E-book, The Haunted Library  and a Kindle WiFi. You will have an opportunity to enter for several prizes both today and tomorrow on Book’d Out.

Jenny Pox, published last year, has been a hit  with a rare cross appeal offering something for both the mature and young adult reader and an impressive, well written story. When I interviewed Jeff last year about his book, he hinted that he was finishing up a horror story about a haunted E-book.  With such an intriguing idea, and confident in Bryan’s skill, I was looking forward to its release.

The Haunted E-book is placed more firmly in the horror genre. Bryan twists an innocuous Kindle into an instrument of terror wielded by the soul of a psychotic print press operator. The plot is intricate as it weaves story within story, while pulling the reader into a  journey of disturbing violence and spine tingling dread. There are intriging twists, creating an uncomfortable rhythm that heightens the tension as the characters are unwittingly trapped in a nightmarish plot. I thought Bryan’s explantion for the haunting was particularly creative, and as creepy as hell. The climax ties all the threads together in a satisfying manner and I doubt you will ever be able to look at your e-reader the same way again.

    Wow. Jeff’s blog tour must be going well, because it seems quite a few places on my blog roll are participating. Again, the book sounds interesting and I’m always a sucker for a good haunting story.

    I’m so excited to read this book! Not really a horror fan, but I’m fascinated by the potential this story has.

    I loved Jenny Pox and I’m excited about reading The Haunted Ebook. This is a great tour. I really want a haunted library. It’s got to be better than a regular library.

    Sounds like a promising book… I like how ” Dee can’t stop herself from reading it” and I hope the book would be like that for me too.
