This weeks feature is Annette @ The More You Read, The More You Will Know! and she asks

What makes up your non-human family?

We have a guinea pig, named Blair that we were given a few months ago. We were assured she was a girl but it turns out she is a he. He is a feisty little thing and lives up to the pig in his name – he eats constantly proving that celery is fattening!

Book Blogger Hop

This week’s question comes from Barb who blogs at Sugarbeat’s Books:

“Why do you read the genre that you do?  What draws you to it?”

I have always read across genres.  I have my favourites – namely Urban Fantasy, Crime/Mystery and Contemporary Fiction, however as much as  I love Urban Fantasy, for example,  if I read too many in a row the individual details start to blur, too many chick lit novels after another and I start rolling my eyes.  As such I tend not to read books from the same genre straight after each other – unless they are a series. It  gives me the opportunity to digest each story, I guess the old adage, “too much of a good thing” works here. There are a few genres I don’t seek out but generally I read a mix of several. In the last two weeks for example I have read 2 Non Fiction, 1 Memoir, 2 Crime/Mysteries, 1 romance, 1 Chick Lit, 3 Urban Fantasy, 1 general fiction.

I look forward to reading your answers as I hop around and follow through. I make sure to repay any visits and welcome yours.

Hi Shelleyrae! Thank for the visit! Blair is very cute! Butterscotch is pretty hyper and is gradually chewing his way out of his cage. Blair looks a bit more sedate…….Hope you have a great weekend!

My sister used to have a number of guinea pigs–I used to
love holding them while I read, they’d sit on my shoulder and were
so warm! And yes, reading the same genre back to back often leads
to the same problem for me. Which can be a bit of a strain reading
epic fantasies or intricate paranormal romances! Thank you for
    stopping by!

That’s an ambitious goal! Aiming to read 364 books in 2011. I’m jealous! Good luck! I used to read a lot of chick lit and yeah eventually it gets really sappy and silly. Now I’ll only pick one up every now and then but my main genres are UF/PR. Thanks for stopping by I’m returning the hop. Have a great weekend!

Hi Shellyrae! Thanks for stopping by from the blog hop. I love your answer about the genres. I think you’re right, there can be too much of a good thing when it comes to reading specific genres.

    Love your guinea pig!

Oh my gosh. How do you read a book a day?! I’d have to give up everything else, including eating and sleeping to get that much reading done. My hat is off to you!

Here I am hopping on by…

I went all over the map with this question on my blog. I read and enjoy almost every genre of fiction out there. There’s no way I could just pick one.

So I talked about all of them. Even romance fiction (sort of)! I invite you to hop over to my blog at http://www.howardsherman.net and see for yourself.

I read more than one genre. But there are a few genres I don’t read. Come see what I do and don’t read.

Thanks for popping by my blog. I totally agree with you, I can’t read the same genre back to back to back. I also have to take a break from series if it’s too long. Have a great weekend. Happy Reading!

Thanks for stopping by! We used to have a guinea pig when my boys were little…. she would get upset with us if we left the house in the morning and didn’t leave the tv on for her to have company!

Hopping in late on the hop and follow Friday. Old follower. I tend to cross over into several genres too. My favorite genre right now is the ever popular paranormal/urban fantasy genres.

I get what you mean about “too much of a good thing”. I mostly read in fantasy (including many sub genres), but I throw in contemporary to mix it up because I get a bit bored and the stories run together if I read too much of the same genre. When I say bored, I mean with the similar plot lines. Although, just read a book by Stacia Kane, really threw off my plot line normalcy, I loved it.

I’ve never owned a guinea pig myself, but my sister has one named Rocky. They are cute little things though.

And wow, 364 books? That’s so many! I’ve just joined that challenge, today actually, and I’ve set my goal at 200. That’s great though. I would love to read that many books in a year. I probably would too if it weren’t for the Hubby. Always thinking I read too much (men!).
