Book Blogger Hop & Follow Friday 7th Jan

Hi and welcome back!

I have been too busy to participate the last couple of weeks, as well as Christmas, we have celebrated my husbands birthday {23rd Dec} my youngest son’s birthday{30th Dec), my parents wedding anniversary (1st Jan} and my youngest daughter will be 8 tomorrow. It’s also summer school holidays here which means I have all my children at home all day for 6 weeks {as well as their father who is on holidays from work for half of that} all under my feet. Doesn’t leave a lot of time for me 🙂

Anyway, I won’t bore you with a huge list of my posts over the last three weeks  – I’ll just hit some of the highlights.

* So my totals for 2010 – 316 books (96903 pages)

* I was inspired to start my own challenge – but so far no takers – would you be interested in the Borrowed Book Challenge?

*Challenges I am joining – The 2011 Aussie Author Challenge, 2011 E-Book Challenge

* I’m interested in knowing how you handle your RSS feed for the book blogs you follow – tell me here!

* Funniest book I reviewed – S$#t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern

* Book I most enjoyed – Double Cross by Carolyn Crane

* The Iron Fey Series – Iron King, Winters Passage, Iron Daughter, and Iron Queen

* Some of the Free Reads  {#17 & #18} I posted are still available

*Check out what I got from my Secret Santa–  some great books!

This weeks question comes from  Shannon @ Stalking the Bookshelves

What book(s) have you discovered lately from someone’s book blog?

I am forever adding more books to my TBR list after reading through the book blogs I susbcribe to each day. The most recent ones I have added were for the Aussie Author Challenge and most tended to come from Bernadette at ReactionsToReading – they include Gunshot Road by Adrian Hyland and Watch the World Burn by Leah Giarratano. I also learnt at ReadinaSingleSitting that Liane Moriarity just released a new book – What Alice Forgot.

This week’s question comes from Ivan who blogs at Ivan Bookworm:

“What book influenced or changed your life? How did it influence/change you?”

It’s 2am and I am not sure I can answer this question coherently. I don’t think there has ever just been one book that has influenced or changed my life. I feel each book influences me in small ways – I believe reading so much has made me a more tolerant person and has taught me more than I ever learnt at school and university. Every book has the potential to be life changing.

I thought the same thing about the Book Blogger Hop
question. Out of every book I’ve read so far, how do I choose just
one…I did pick a book that influenced me, in a way. I hope that
you’ll stop by my blog to read my answer!

Congrats on the 300+ books. I only read 30 last year so that seems like a huge number to me. I set my goal at 50 for this year… probably have to add some audio books to reach that number though.

I like your answer. I feel similarly. I don’t have a single book to point to. Come by and see why.

This will probably come of something as a surprise but the book that changed/influenced my life (more than any other) is a non-fiction book. I know we all focus on novels and the fanciful fiction we love to read but The Four Work Week is the book that gets all the credit. I know the title sounds fictional but it really isn’t. Hop over to my blog and find out why – http://www.howardsherman.net

    Happy Book Blogger Hop Day!

    316 books is a lot.
I feel the same way about books.
I haven’t had one in particular, but a few that made me think.

I ended up choosing Twilight because it was one of the first books that I interacted with strangers about. (More on my blog!)

    Have a good week!

Gunshot Road was an excellent read, although I would definitely recommend that you read the preceding book, Diamond Dove, first.

Holy shnikes! You are an inspiration, my dear. 316 books is just WHOA (O_O)!

And I agree with you, that every book has the power to impact our lives in some way. If they didn’t then what would be the point in reading, right?

Thanks very much for stopping by the blog. And I wish I could say that my personal bookshelves are fully stocked, but alas that is not so.

And at the risk of sounding totally creepy, I need to say it. You must have one extraordinary accent you Australian blogger! I almost wish I could hear it. *laughs*

About to poke around and check out your Iron Queen review….
