Stuff on Sunday: Challenges for 2013

I enjoy a good challenge and so far I have committed to four for 2013.

The first is, of course, the challenge I am hosting for the second year -

The Australian Women Writers Challenge 2013

awwbadge_2013

Last year I read 109 books for the challenge, this year I have no specific aim but as I plan to continue my features of Australian women writers and I am one of the curators for the challenge I expect I will still read quite a few, certainly more the maximum challenge goal allows for – probably within the month LOL

The challenge runs from January 1, 2013 and ends December 31, 2013.

Franklin-fantastic (read 10 and review at least 4 books)*

Aussie Author Challenge 2013

Aussie-Author-Challenge-2013

I completed this challenge successfully last year and I aim to do so again this year. Jo’s aim this year is to encourage balanced and diverse reading. I am aiming for the Fair Dinkum level.

FAIR DINKUM
- Read and review 12 books by Australian Authors
- Ensure at least 4 of the authors are male, at least 4 of the authors are female and at least 4 of the authors are new to you
- Ensure at least 2 of the books are non-fiction and at least 4 fiction genres are represented amongst your 12 titles.

Monthly Key Word Challenge 2013

In this challenge, ten key words are associated with each month in 2013. Your task is to read one book each month whose title includes one or more of the key words for that month. For instance, in January you could read Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah. The key words are listed below.

Has anyone ever told you that you are a terrible influence? *sigh* Here I was, telling myself that I was going to be strong this year and limit my reading fever to just three challenges, then you come and post all those pretty colors, and lovely words… how am I too resist? I’m not that strong, so I, too, I’m joining the Monthly Key Word challenge and a delicious zombie challenge that has been eating at me!

P.S. I’ve relocated your button to my personal blog (http://pagan-culture.blogspot.com/) more traffic ;-)

I’m joining your challenge and hoping to be an eclectic reader this year, too! In addition to that, I’m doing 7 more challenges. :) Now, I’m a little tempted to do that Monthly Key Word Challenge, too!

The keyword challenge looks interesting in concept, but I can’t help but feel it’s very Northern Hemisphere/US-centric in its themes… Nevertheless, I’d be tempted to join in if the idea of tracking down extra books to fit the keywords didn’t fill me with panic.

The terms do tend to be US seasonal, which of course is the opposite of ours, but there is a fair bit of flexibility and the keywords a are pretty broad so i don’t envision too many problems

I enjoyed your Eclectic Challenge last year, but have decided to restrict my challenges so that I’m not too stressed…lol

I’m doing a Mt. TBR Challenge to help clear my shelves; a cozies challenge; a Women’s Murder Club Challenge; and a Sequel Challenge. Just four. That’s enough.

    Although your challenges look good!

Wonderful to have you on board for another year of the Aussie Author Challenge Shelleyrae. How long do you think it will take you to complete the Fair Dinkum level this year – 2 months maybe?? ;)

I’ve already signed up for your eclectic challenge. Looking forward to this one so much. And the Key Word challenge looks interesting too. Good luck with them all. :)
